9 of the best gluten free pasta recipes are rounded up! Think comfort, quick and flavour-packed. I’ve shared my favourite gluten free pasta brands below as well to help narrow down decisions at the grocery store. All these recipes have been made many times over in my home. They are such a good weeknight dinner when you don’t have a ton of time, without compromising on nutrition and taste.
Why You’ll Love These Vegan Pasta Recipes
- Versatile. It’s so easy to add your favourite protein and extra veggies to any of these pasta recipes.
- Time. A lot of these vegan pasta recipes take 30 minutes to make. And all of them (minus the gnocchi) take less than an hour to throw together.
- Variety of Flavours. Whether it’s summer and you want to use the fresh basil from the garden for a pesto pasta or it’s winter and you want a more cozy dish like the mushroom stroganoff, there is a range of flavours in this list that will keep you full no matter the season.
This Tahini Pasta is creamy and nutty, and only takes 30 minutes to make. Barilla Fettuccini is the type of pasta used in this recipe and doesn’t disappoint. The pasta sauce is simple to make, and once the pasta is cooked, simply toss the noodles in the sauce. Top the pasta with cilantro, green onion and red pepper flakes and you’ll be smacking your lips. Twirl the pasta between a fork and enjoy the slightly sweet, slightly tangy and slightly rich tahini pasta in your mouth.
Another 30-minute meal (almost), is this Mushroom Stroganoff. If you are looking for a comforting pasta dish, look no further. The combination of mushrooms, thyme, red wine, vegan butter and coconut milk makes this recipe cozy to the max. The sauce is rich, thick, and creamy. There is more than enough sauce to go around, to coat each noodle in a thick layer of mouth-watering sauce.
Vegan Mac and Cheese in which no fake cheese is used. The creamy stars of this pasta dish are butternut squash, nutritional yeast and cashews. Paired with dijon mustard, garlic powder and onion powder, this mac and cheese has all the nostalgic flavours of your past but there is no need to miss the cheesy alternative. This mac and cheese is simple enough to make, it’s hearty, healthy and perhaps your new go-to.
We are on a roll with 30-minute pasta recipes because here is another one! Vegan Pesto Pasta is the perfect pasta dish for any summer night. Use that fresh basil from the garden and this pasta will blow your mind. It’s zesty, tangy, garlicky and loaded with greens! This dish is quite versatile. Add whatever roasted vegetables to this pasta recipe but my favourite is to add roasted broccolini or sautéed mushrooms.
Vegan Rose Pasta Sauce is loaded with garlic, cherry tomatoes, nutritional yeast and cashew cream. The cashew cream adds a smoothness and richness that will have you begging for seconds. This dish takes less than an hour to pull together. It’s a simple, yet flavour-packed red pasta sauce that goes with any type of noodle. This is a good recipe to keep in your back pocket.
Vegan Pad Thai uses some of my favourite noodles. In this dish, you’ll find lots of protein from the tofu and freshness from all the veggies. Any dish with bean sprouts and green onions, I’m here for it. The sauce is thick, aromatic, and tangy. It coats the noodles nicely and truly makes for a healthy noodle bowl. This vegan pad Thai is the perfect recipe to make when you are craving a takeout noodle dish but don’t want to leave the house. It’s comforting, quick to make and protein-packed.
A healthy take on a rather decadent pasta is this Vegan Alfredo Pasta. Don’t be turned off that cauliflower and cashews are ingredients in the sauce because they are paired with other ingredients to make this dish flavour-packed. You won’t even taste the cauliflower. The total time for this vegan pasta recipe is under an hour, which makes it another great weeknight meal.
For those warm summer nights, this vegan pasta salad is just what you need. It takes 30 minutes to make (starting to see a trend here with pasta recipes) and it is super versatile. Add the vegetables that you desire and maybe even sprinkle in your favourite vegan feta. The dressing is zesty and tangy and covers the noodles perfectly.
A household favourite that requires a little extra time and love but is the perfect slow Sunday meal is this Homemade Gnocchi. The base is a lot of sweet potato and some brown rice flour (to keep it gluten-free). The tomato sauce that accompanies the gnocchi is fragrant with nodes of garlic and basil. This dish takes over an hour to make but it’s fun to roll up the sleeves and get your hands a little messy!
What Is The Best Brand Of Gluten Free Pasta
I have a few regular brands of gluten free pasta that I use. I like using Lotus Foods for Pad Thai, Rizopia for fusilli and Barilla for all things spaghetti and fettuccine. There are a lot of brands out there these days. Some are made from chickpeas and lentils. I love that these types of pasta have protein already in the noodles, but I do find they get sort of mushy so the texture just isn’t my favourite.
Tips For Cooking Gluten-Free Pasta
- Add a little dash of oil as soon as you add the noodles to the boiling water. This will help the noodles to not stick together as much.
- Stir often. While the noodles are cooking, make sure to stir quite often to avoid any clumping and sticking. Again, this will depend perhaps on the brand of noodles you are using, but overall it’s a good tip to follow.
- Follow the cooking time that the package says. All gluten-free pastas differ in what ingredients are used so that may impact the cooking time. Always be sure to follow the package instructions for the best result.
